KEEP HACKNEY WARM / WRAP UP HACKNEY – an initiative from the #EastLondonYarnTriangle
Earlier this year I teamed up with Anna at ‘Wild & Woolly’ and Maya at ‘Knit with Attitude’ to raise awareness and flow around our 3 shops, we had a very successfull treasure hunt & WWKIP (World Wide Knit in Public day) Following the event we thought we could use this energy and bring our close knit community together in a different way.

The East London Yarn Triangle is 4 and a bit miles long and we thought we could all try to knit those miles in scarves to bring a bit of warmth to Hackney’s rough sleepers this winter (which is on the increase with recent austerity cuts and high rents / house prices in the area)

We cast on the initiative at the recent ‘YARN’ movie at Hackney Picture house on Sunday 9th October ,followed by a Knit-In at the BUST Craftacular in November. THANKYOU for all the scarves received so far! The first batch of scarves have made their way to our street friends via an inspiring local lady called Donna (look up DEE DEE help the homeless online)  More info on ELYT: http://eastlondonyarntriangle.com/  WE WILL CONTINUE TO KNIT & RE DESTRIBUTE SCARVES THROUGH THE WINTER MONTHS.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED:
* Do you have any yarn (DK, aran or chunky) you’re not using you can donate to the project?
* Can you knit or crochet a scarf in some cosy yarn? We suggest  15 or 20cm  x 150cm long and dark/muted colours if possible.
* If you need any help to start or already have scarves & yarn you can get in touch or call into any of our 3 shops
