Gardens open from 6pm, event 6.45 – 8.15pm
Explore the Geffrye Museum’s beautiful period gardens before settling down to a recital of garden-inspired music by Duo Octacorda in the restaurant.
The duo, comprising Lithuanian born violinist Joana Valentinaviciute and Stanislav Popou, solo Viola at the Mälmo Opera Theatre Orchestra in Sweden, were inspired by the Geffrye’s gardens for the Garden Music Recital. They say “Chamber music was traditionally written and presented in homes. Because of the history of the building and its rich heritage, the Geffrye Museum of the Home allows us to journey back in time, to perform and enjoy music in a home environment”.
The duo have picked pieces which reflect nature, including Bohuslav Martinů ‘Three Madrigals H.313’, Geoffrey Collings ‘Sonatina’ , Bjarne Brustad ‘Capricci’ and Vissarion Shebalin ‘Sonata op.35’.#
