Hidden Art at 100% Design 2002

26 – 29 September 2002

Mazorca Projects, the support network for East London designers, showcased the latest work from Hidden Art members at this year’s 100% Design and 100% Guaranteed (26 to 29 September).

The seven exhibitors on the Hidden Art stand (A100) were all recipients of bursaries, provided by Mazorca Projects, to enable East London designers showcase their products at the 100% Design trade show. The bursaries were made possible thanks to the support of ERDF (European Regional Development Fund), ESF (European Social Fund) and the Phoenix Fund.

Showing on the Hidden Art stand : Azusa Hirose (sculptural slip cast ceramic bowls plates and lighting), Caroline Hudson Design (ceramic wall tiles), François Lefranc (launching ‘Angel’ – a free-standing vacuum formed acrylic light), Katherine Pogson (leather accessories for interiors including leather floor treatments), Luna Lighting (ceramic lighting) Marinella Lawrence (ceramic seating and planters) and Urbis Design (urban plant containers).

The Hidden Art stand also signposted visitors to other events taking place in the East London as part of 100% Guaranteed. Over 50 international designers, including a selection of Hidden Art members, presented their work with Designers Block, in two new venues. Work was also on display in Shoreditch Stables (adjacent to the Geffrye Museum in Hackney) and The Bargehouse (behind the Oxo Tower).

During 100% Design Mazorca Projects also launched its new showcasing area designed by the multi-disciplinary practice Foundation 33 (an adaptable display system that transforms according to the users particular needs and requirements). On show was a special exhibition to launch Mazorca Projects’  ‘Design and Manufacture’ project supported by City Fringe Partnership.
