27 – 30 September 2001
Hidden Art launched its innovative new web portal www.hiddenart.com at 100% Design on 27-30 September 2001. The site is a unique gateway to an East London community of designers, manufacturers and designer-makers (such as EllaDoran, Pepper-mint and Dominic Crinson).
It is a development of the existing Hidden Art website, which has been successfully promoting East London designer-makers since 1996. The site’s dynamic content includes individual home pages for designer-makers and discussion space for exchanging ideas and experience. News and up-to-the-minute reports on trade fairs, events and current trends will connect East London’s design community to the wider design world, both in the UK and internationally.
Suppliers and manufacturers in East London can include their businesses in the services directory. This section of the portal also enables Hidden Art’s affiliates to describe the service or support they offer to designer-makers. This facilitates communication among the diverse design community about new materials, innovative processes and potential partnerships.
The portal is funded by the London Development Agency Innovative Cluster Fund and the European Regional Development Fund. Ben Whittle (Technical Architecture for Equities, UBS Warburg and a board member of Mazorca Projects) has provided invaluable advice and has commented “I am very excited by the portal development, Mazorca Projects has shown that they not only have the vision but more importantly they have the ability to execute on that vision”.
The Hidden Art stand will also provide access to the Hidden Art showcasing and business support programmes, which are invaluable resources for visitors to 100% Design.
The Hidden Art stand has been designed by the multi-disciplinary art and design practice Foundation 33, who are also exhibiting as part of Designers Block (27-30 September), and is constructed from eleven complete sheets of four by eight plywood
