Bella Lane teaching Peruvian Embroidery at Fabrications

We are participating again this year in the “Great London Yarn Crawl” taking place 1st – 8th September.

This year’s edition of the Great London Yarn Crawl will take a different tactic: the week-long event will allow participants to choose their own routes and shop combinations, and to spread their visits over multiple days, extending the yarn-y celebration! Tickets & Passports to participate are £10 with proceeds going to this year’s nominated charity “Shelter”. To celebrate GLYC2019 Fabrications will be offering the following:

 KNIT & NATTER an evening with Erika Knight
Friday 6th September, 6.30 – 9.30pm (Tickets £10)

Erika is a highly respected knitwear and crochet designer, as well as the creator of her own sustainable yarn range (which we sell at Fabrications!)

Erika will be speaking about the processes behind her range of yarns and what makes them a sustainable choice for your knitting and crochet projects. There will be opportunity to squeeze yarns! Ask lots of questions and Erika will also be hosting an informal workshop of learning one of the lace stitches using her ‘Wool Local’ as incorporated in her pattern ‘Betty’.

Included in your ticket will be some of the ‘Wool Local’ to try out the stitch, the ‘Betty’ pattern and wine/refreshments. EAST LONDON YARN TRIANGLE GUIDED TOURS

Saturday 7th September, 9.30 – 5.30pm (FREE* The Guided Tours are exclusively available to Great London Yarn Crawl Ticket Holders.)

 The ELYT tours will include trips to all 3 of Hackney’s wool shops, FabricationsKnit with Attitude and Wild and Woolly, with an optional extra leg on the Interknitty Express Train to Richmond’s Tribe Yarns. On your Guided tour, you will be part of a group of ten knitters and crocheters with 2 local knitter guides, well versed in the stories and hidden haunts of this characterful and historic part of London. All the shops will be running special discounts and offers for yarn crawlers. The tours are each named after one of our favourite historical local heroines and heros. TRUNK SHOW with Erika Knight

Saturday 7th September, 10am – 5.30pm (FREE & OPEN TO ALL) 

If you were unable to make the talk and workshop on Friday 6th September you can Join our special guest Erika Knight on the Saturday with her “Trunk Show” of latest designs & classics, sample garments and sustainable fibre collection including “Studio Linen” (recycled linen fibre) , “Wool Local” (British wool – all made within 50 miles) and “Wild Wool” (nettle fibre).

Erika’s ‘Trunk show and tell’ is made of new designs and old favourites with an insight into the creative process and how simple details and finishing techniques can create sophisticated and timeless garments. Understand the fibres that you knit with and the characteristics of each of the natural and sustainable yarns in the Erika knight collection.

FABRICATIONS CRAFT CLUB:
This takes place every fortnight on a Thursday evening, 6 – 9pm.

Our ‘Open Studio’ Community Evening – The club is a friendly, supportive and creative evening.
Bring along your own projects (whether it be knitting, crochet, sewing, patchwork etc).
It’s an ideal follow on to our classes for continuity or extra guidance.
Come with friends or make new friends.

£5 includes tea & biscuits, use of facilities. JUST TURN UP! *

* If you’d like to use a sewing machine please BOOK IN
as machine places are limited. Basic sewing skills required.

* Most classes include materials and use of equipment.
If you need to bring additional materials this will be specified on the website workshop calendar

* Payment in advance required to secure your place.
If we need to cancel the class we will offer a full refund or credit note to use on another class or in the shop

* If you are unable to attend a class, please give at least 1 week’s notice.
We will offer to re schedule to another date or give a credit note.
Failing this you are welcome to send someone else to take your place!
