FORTHCOMING EVENTS & NEWS ……….

SEWCIAL & IN CONVERSATION WITH RICCARDO GUIDO Friday 28th June, 6.30 – 9.30pm

Followed by a Q&A with you! (£7.50 includes wine, nibbles & can be redeemed in Fabrications shop on the night)

Riccardo grew up in Salento, South Italy with his three sisters. His mother was a keen sewer and a sewing machine was ever present in their family home, however Riccardo didn’t start sewing until he moved to London as an adult. A keen advocate of sustainable fashion, Riccardo believes in reusing and recycling wherever possible to reduce waste. One of his proudest makes is a leather jacket he created from a leather sofa he found in the street! As we saw on the recent series of the Great British Sewing Bee, Riccardo has a real talent for creative reuse and re engineering textiles into unique and stylish outfits. Come and meet him and hear his ‘behind the seams’ stories! He also has a few surprises up his sleeves for the evening! https://fabrications1.co.uk/event/sewcial-with-riccardo-guido-finalist-of-the-great-british-sewing-bee/

* * * NEW LIMITED EDITION HIUT DENIM CUSHION KIT + ONLINE SEWING COURSE * * *

Some of you already know that I have been working with the creative platform ‘Yodomo’ to bring some of my sewing classes to life online, meaning the Fabrications experience can potentially be enjoyed anywhere in the world!  Yodomo are pleased to announce the release of a limited edition kit: which includes a bundle of Hiut denim fabric, Hiut tote bag and Barley Massey’s online Learn to sew a cushion cover course. This exclusive sewing package makes it easy to sew a custom denim cushion with offcut fabric provided by Hiut Denim.

The Hiut story starts in Cardigan, a Welsh town of 4000 people, with a rich 30 year history of jean manufacturing. Following the closure of the local factory in 2002, which put many livelihoods at risk, Clare and David Hieatt decided to take action. With the motto, ‘Do one thing well’, the Hiut mission is simple. They use high quality denim which is expertly cut and sewn, to create jeans that will stand the test of time. Jeans which are made simply, and made well. The Hiut team make just 100 pairs of quality jeans a week. Hiut Denim’s ethical credentials are high: they offer free repairs for life for their jeans, and even have a ‘no wash club‘ to encourage saving water.  https://yodomo.co/blogs/news/hiut-denim-offcuts-kit-yodomo
