Come along to the Geffrye this winter and craft your own Christmas with our series of practical workshops for sparkle, wellbeing and cheer – from screen printing wrapping paper and cards to creating beautiful home-made decorations and preparing a winter wellness survival kit. On Saturday 8 December, join us for a festive makers’ market and celebration, showcasing the work of local creatives – the perfect place to pick up unique, hand-made gifts.
No experience needed, all materials provided. Concessionary prices apply to students and 60+.

Screen Print Your Own Christmas Wrapping Paper and Cards
Saturdays 17 November and 1 December, 2 – 4pm. Tickets £35 (15% concs). All ages
Discover how to print your own Christmas wrapping paper and cards. Choose from a wide range of designs and colours, using high-quality materials, to make unique, handmade items – perfect for making your gifts stand out this year and adding a personal touch to your festive mail. Run by Hackney Arts.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Make a Victorian Christmas Pudding
Thursday 22 November, 2.45 – 5pm and 5.45 – 8pm. Tickets £35. For adults
Food historian Dr Annie Gray (from BBC Radio 4’s The Kitchen Cabinet) will talk about the Victorian origins of our modern Christmas then help you create your own classic Victorian Christmas pudding, ready to take home and cook.
Ticket includes all ingredients to prepare the puddings, plus drinks and mince pies. Bring your own
one-pint pudding basin or order one when you book (£5). Signed copies of Annie’s book, ‘The Greedy Queen: Eating with Victoria’ can also be pre-ordered (£8).
Make a Winter Wellness Survival Kit
Saturdays 24 November and 8 December, 2 – 4pm. Tickets £35. For adults
Learn to love the colder months by making your own wellness products to keep you cosy indoors. Find out more about the restorative and relaxing properties of herbs and essential oils to make your own nature-inspired winter survival kit, including herbal bath-bags, an all-natural sleep pillow and a soothing scented candle.
Christmas Decorations Workshop
Wednesday 28 November, 6.30 – 8.30pm and Saturday 8 December, 11am – 1pm
Tickets £30. Family friendly, ages 8+
Create beautiful handmade decorations using brightly coloured origami shapes, seed pods and fir cones, taught by fine artist and florist, Freya Gabie.
Make a Christmas Terrarium
Thursdays 29 November and 13 December, 7 – 9pm. Tickets £35. For adults
Make your own indoor garden in a glass bowl with a special festive twist. Learn which plants to choose and how to maintain them, then add decorations and festive sparkles to create the perfect centre-piece for your Christmas dining table.
Create a Rainbow Wreath

A fun and colourful take on the traditional Christmas wreath, these rainbow wreaths are made from baubles, glitter and sparkles to give a unique festive look guaranteed to make your door the most stylish in town.
Christmas Makers’ Market
Saturday 8 December, 11am – 5pm. Free entry. All ages.
Browse and buy unique hand-made gifts from London makers and enjoy the twinkle of the Christmas tree with hot street food and a beer from Hackney Brewery in hand. There will also be workshops and activities under cover at this family-friendly event in the Geffrye’s beautiful front gardens.
