New Designers is the UK’s leading exhibition for emerging design, welcoming 3,000 of the year’s most promising graduates all under one roof. The exhibition is based at the Business Design Centre in Islington and takes place every summer, with this year being the 32nd edition of the event.

Over 180 of the country’s best craft and design courses exhibit, each bringing their best graduates, so the show offers a unique opportunity to meet the best new designers, discover new talent, and see new products and emerging trends first hand. As well as this, the show’s One Year On section showcases the most exciting design talents in their first year of business. Chosen on the strength of their craft, design flair and quality of product, these 80 talented individuals have been selected by a panel of experts from across the design industry and are tipped to be the iconic designers of the future.

New Designers – 2016 – Part One

This year’s One Year On exhibition is a quarter bigger than previous years, and includes kinetic jewellery, illustrations which draw inspiration from vintage matchbox artwork, furniture made from distinctive 5,000 year-old bog oak and a brutalist inspired ceramic tea set. The exhibition also reveals the latest trends around ecology and sustainability, as well as new technology such as 3D printing and the contemporary revival of traditional craft techniques like metal planishing.

New Designers is split into two distinct Parts, taking place over two concurrent weeks

Part 1 takes place from 28 June – 01 July, and presents disciplines including jewellery, ceramics, fashion, textiles and costume design.

Part 2 takes place from 05 – 08 July, featuring graduates specialising in graphic design, illustration, animation, product design, furniture design and interiors.
