Designer-maker Snowden Flood has grown popular for her range of iconic London landmark products as well as her Art Deco prints, and graphic trees printed onto drinking glasses and candles. Snowden’s collection is inspired by her love of souvenirs. Whilst living in New York in the 1990s she would try to find well-designed, good quality, souvenirs and gifts to take back. Unable to find such souvenirs, Snowden set about making her own for London when she moved back. Inspired by a Tower of London plate, made in the 1700s, she developed her own designs into ceramic products, which began the start of her beautiful series of iconic London landmark homewares.
Snowden Flood, was selected to be part of Christmas Present a Christmas pop-up shop taking place at the Geffrye Museum. Hidden Art Christmas Present coincides with Christmas Past, an exhibition that has taken place at the Geffrye for over 25 years.
2015 saw the launch of Snowden’s bone china London Landmark tree baubles. Taking the most beautiful snapshots of London’s architecture such as; Albert Bridge, St. Pauls Cathedral, Tower Bridge and the London eye, Snowden has printed them onto baubles and reproduced them for Christmas 2016. Snowden recalls her favourite sale of her Christmas baubles from a woman who bought a set of 6 Albert Bridge baubles to hang on her tree and surprise her fiancé. They had just gotten engaged on Albert Bridge and she was looking forward to surprising him with her new decorations!
Christmas is often a time for eating, drinking and family & friends getting together, so it is no surprise that Snowden’s London River series of bone china plates and mugs are very popular for Christmas gifts. (And a great gift to yourself!) Beautifully designed with striking colours they are great to make the house look stylish and bring an extra special touch of luxury to mealtimes.
Snowden’s products make great gifts for those hard-to-buy-for men in your life. The Tree Glasses set, which come in black or white are a great solution! Perfect for a whisky drinker, the glasses are sturdy and heavy in hand, making them fantastic for a drink beside a roaring winter fire.
Snowden’s products combine luxury with personality, to guarantee your gifts will show you’ve put thought into your purchase. Each mug, plate, glass or bauble that is made in Stoke on Trent goes through a process whereby 20 people have been involved in the making; from preparing the artwork to printing, mixing colours, decorating the pieces, firing and packing. Snowden’s collection is the definition of quality over quantity, whereby she does not deal with the mass production market and instead produces something of beautiful quality every time. What is unique about Snowden’s collection is that you know the history and production of your purchase.
