The RegioStars Awards are for innovative projects and have been organised by the European Commission since 2008.
We submitted for the Smart Growth category which is for innovative projects or schemes suporting service innovation in its different forms. The Award Criteria included innovative character of the project, Impact (or expected impact) of the project in terms of initial objectives, expected sustainability of the project and project’s results in enhancing local, regional and interregional partnerships.
Our submission was for our ERDF project called Innovative Collaboration Networks for Smart Growth (1 October 2008-30 September 2011) which aims to assist design SMEs to access the competitive, global market-place by encouraging innovation and collaborative networks. It has done this through exploiting new media and online tools in order to support collaboration, creating smarter business models, collaborations with specialists as well as practical learning. A good example of its effectiveness is our own collaboration with Culturelabel.
As one of the 7 finalists we were invited to present our project to the jury in Brussels on 16 January 2012.
